Tractor vs Avangard. How will the match in Chelyabinsk turn out?
Chelyabinsk Tractor opens another game week in the KHL with a home match against Avangard Omsk. The meeting of rivals in the Eastern Conference will be held on September 19 in Chelyabinsk.
The second team of the League last season according to the results of the regular championship, the Chelyabinsk Traktor at the start of the current season, is rather disappointing with its game. Personnel losses during the summer off-season, when all five legionnaires and forward Vitaly Kravtsov left the team, did not pass without a trace for the Chelyabinsk club. Of the major acquisitions, it is worth noting the return of Anton Burdasov to Chelyabinsk, who played the last three seasons for SKA St. Petersburg. There are no complaints about Burdasov, Anton is currently the most productive in Tractor, having 8 points (3 + 5) in his asset. But otherwise, Tractor's game is noticeably inferior to its last year's model.
Once again, the Chelyabinsk residents had an acute problem with the main goalkeeper. After the departure of the Czech Roman Villa, it seemed that Emil Garipov was guaranteed a place at the gate, but he failed two starting matches of the championship, as a result of which he sat down tightly on the bench. Mylnikov and Proskuryakov are also not particularly impressive yet, so a legionary goalkeeper should soon appear at the gates of Chelyabinsk. So far, Traktor has only three wins in seven matches played, and twice Gatiyatulina's wards won outside of regular time. Thus, at the moment, the Tractor has only six points scored and the current eighth place in the Eastern Conference.
Avangard
Omsk club is still the main disappointment of the start of the season. Replacing Bob Hartley, who worked for the Avangard for four seasons and earned the Gagarin Cup with his charges, was not so easy. It would seem that Dmitry Ryabykin, who worked at Hartley's headquarters, would painlessly replace the Canadian specialist, but in fact Avangard fell down at the start of the season, failing the first half of September.
Six defeats in a row, although one of the most powerful rivals is SKA St. Petersburg. To some extent, the chain of failures can be attributed to the vicissitudes of the calendar, which forced the Omsk team to play away all September. Omsk won their first victory only in the seventh calendar game, having managed to beat Barys on the road on September 16 with a score of 5-2. At the moment, the Vanguard have only three points scored and the penultimate, tenth place in the standings of the Eastern Conference.
