Dynamo Moscow vs Sibir. Which opponent will break the chain of failures?
Capital Dynamo will open the next game week of the regular KHL championship with a home match against Novosibirsk Siberia. The meeting will take place on October 16 on the ice of the capital's VTB Arena.
The Blue and Whites can divide the starting period of the championship into two parts, a successful September and a downright disastrous October so far. In September, Alexei Kudashov's team won 9 victories in 12 matches played, simultaneously managing to beat both army teams, at a certain point even leading the Western Conference standings. In October, everything changed dramatically. Only two victories (3-2 over Kunlun and 1-0 over Severstal), with four defeats. Moreover, some October matches turned out to be disastrous in terms of game content, ending with major defeats from Torpedo 1-7, Lokomotiv 2-5 and Avangard 0-3.
The team leaders, Nikita Gusev and Jordan Well, are not in the best game shape, having currently scored 39 points for performance between them. The team's average scoring rate dropped to 1.3 goals per game, although in September this figure was at 3.8. The calendar may play into Dynamo’s hands; the blue and white will play the next four games at home with teams from the bottom of the standings. At the moment, Dynamo has 23 points and is currently in fifth place in the West, six points behind the leading Yaroslavl Lokomotiv.
Sibir
The Siberians have a gaming crisis more serious than Dynamo’s and talk about the possible resignation of David Nemirovski is heard more and more often. Having at his disposal a good roster in terms of names, Nemirovski cannot yet bring his players to a common denominator, which directly affects the results. In mid-September, the Siberians won four victories in a row, but that period of the championship still remains a short-term flash of successful play, which is lost against the backdrop of systematic failures.
In October, the Siberians have not yet won a single victory, losing in all five matches they played. Twice the team clung to points in games with Traktor, but both times the Chelyabinsk club was more successful in overtime. The Siberians' attack is absolutely not working, the team scored only 35 goals in 17 matches played, only two clubs perform worse in the championship in terms of performance - Admiral and Vityaz. However, for now Sibir is still clinging to the top eight in the East, with 17 points scored and occupying eighth place.
