Spartak vs CSKA. Will the army team take revenge for the recent defeat in the derby?
The third full-time match in the current championship between Spartak and CSKA will be held on November 18 in Moscow, on the ice of the Megasport Arena.
The Red-Whites became the third club in the League to change their coach during the season. With Boris Mironov, Spartak started the championship well, but the October game decline, which resulted in six defeats in a row, became fatal for the mentor. The main complaint against Mironov was an extremely weak game in attack, only Amur scored less than Spartak in the KHL, while the Far East played two matches less. Igor Grishin, who started the season at the Spartak farm club Khimik, was called to correct the defeat.
After the resignation of Mironov, Spartak played two games, leaving an ambiguous impression. The attack is still not impressive, but due to the defense and the maximum dedication of the hockey players in these matches, they managed to take the maximum possible points. In turn, two capital clubs were beaten, meetings with which are of fundamental nature for the red-whites. The army team was beaten in regular time with a score of 2-1, and in the game against Dynamo, the Spartacists missed an advantage of two goals, allowing the opponent to put the game into overtime. In the shootout, luck was on the side of Spartak - Khokhlachov, Vishnevsky, Tsyplakov, Starchenko realized their attempts, and Patrick Rybar managed to repel two shots. These two victories allowed Spartak to return to the top eight in the West, now the red-whites with 31 points scored just occupy the eighth place.
CSKA
The army team also fell into a small functional hole in early November, having managed to lose three matches in a row to not the most titled rivals (Neftekhimik 3-4, Lokomotiv 2-3 and Spartak 1-2). The black streak was interrupted on November 13, when Dynamo Minsk turned up under the hot hand of the army. The army team played ugly on defense, conceding five goals, but more than compensated for these problems with their own implementation, sending eight goals at once into the Minsk goal. Work on the mistakes was carried out and already in the next match the army team played to zero in defense, while throwing two unanswered goals into the Admiral's gate.
After these two victories, the wards of Sergei Fedorov again returned to the race for another army club - SKA from St. Petersburg, leading the championship by a significant margin. CSKA is now second in the West, with 43 points behind teammates from St. Petersburg by 11 points.
